Move to a Community or Neighborhood of Hope

Here's one of the best tips for ex-offenders who are re-entering society: Change your life by first changing your community or neighborhood. Relocate to a place of hope rather than one of despair, and associate with winners rather than losers. Find individuals in your community who will lift you up rather than drag you down. If you do this, you will be well on your way to winning the re-entry game.

If you come from a dysfunctional community or a neighborhood of despair, avoid returning to such places. They have little to offer you other than more trouble in the future.

Relocate to a community of hope - one with a growing economy, lots of job opportunities, low crime rates, many educational opportunities, and a network of support groups. These communities are often found outside major cities.
